FAQs

Who Do You Usually Work With?

We work with teams of all sizes. For the most part, we've worked with teams and employees from across an organization, executives, divisions within an organization, and leadership teams. More often than not they are going through transformation, or significant changes and require alignment and action to move their organizations forward. They want to hear new ideas, to ensure they are on the right path, and to find a way to create a powerful experience. Leaders recognize that success is dependent on hearing all the voices in the room, and we work with them to solve real three-dimensional problems using three-dimensional solutions. Our clients find that they often leave with new and bold practical ideas and insights that they had not previously considered.

Do You Ever Work With Conferences or Associations?

Absolutely! Some of our most rave reviews come from conference attendees! Our workshops are an excellent way to create networking, generate powerful ideas to common challenges, and get everyone on the same page. We’re often the #1 attended and reviewed session at any conference!

Do You Offer Pre-Designed Workshops?

All of our workshops are customized and personalized to reflect the unique situation of each client. However, we do offer some standard offerings which we customize that focus on Conferences, Team Building, Innovation, and Scenario Testing and Planning.

What About Makes LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® A Powerful Tool?

Drawing on ideas from the fields of psychology and behavioural science, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is a powerful tool that focuses on both divergence and converge to allows teams to initiate change and improvement and even to create something radically new. It takes brainstorming, ideation, strategy, and visioning to the next level.

Our hands are connected to between 70 and 80 percent of our brain cells. Our brains are limited in how much information they can consciously handle at one time - often referred to as our 'working memory'. But with the assistance of all the neural connections in our hands, we "know" a great deal more at any given moment that we previously thought. This method, through the assistance of our hands via building, taps into a highly significant part of one's subconscious thinking.

The challenge most organizations face is that they have unique business problems they want their internal staff to resolve. It's often one individual, a small team, or perhaps some consultants not too familiar with the business who are assigned to this. They are asked to solve complex 3D problems using traditional 2D solutions (write a strategy document, use a whiteboard, come up with a solution etc). This normally involves limited brainstorming and filling out a template with the requisite information with the help of minimal discussions. The results are often poor and the strategy remains on a shelf or in a folder.

With LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, all strategy becomes a live 3D immersive experience where there's full participation of everyone involved. The best organizations understand that leaders do not have all the answers, and prefer to tap into the collective knowledge of its people.

"I Have An Hour On The Agenda, Can We Fit In A LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Session?"

The short answer is unfortunately NO. The minimum amount of time for a session is half a day, or approximately 2.5-3 hours. There are core components to these workshops that are required for participants to be introduced to the method and get them into the building mode and to deliver results. We generally work with our clients to design the correct solution to meet their needs, but we do not do sessions of one hour. It is impossible to do a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in that timeframe.

"We did LEGO once at a meeting, I assume it is the same thing?"

Probably not, and probably not even close!

Our workshops are geared and designed to meet your needs. We are aware that people have used all different types of tools and techniques for meetings, ice breakers, and team building events. We use the LEGO bricks as a tool in conjunction with the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method which can be used in an infinite number of ways. We combine it with our own methods, approaches, and techniques based on best practices and client success.

What Is The 'Typical' Reaction From Participants During A Session?

Sessions carefully designed, crafted, and delivered by Rob Oddi, expert in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials, result in an extremely high level of engagement, interactivity, and solutioning . Fun is also an understatement. The sessions are designed to produce content-rich outcomes and results. Participants become fully engaged as all of his sessions appeal to all learning styles (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic). Participants often realize 'aha' moments and insights and become fully immersed into a richer, more three-dimensional means of ideation and communication. Leaders get great feedback and sessions paint a picture of what is happening in the organization as well as existing challenges and new opportunities.

Rob designs the sessions very carefully, and uses his experience as a professional speaker, and facilitator to ensure we get buy-in, commitment, and engagement from everyone in the room. Check out the videos on this page to hear the reaction from clients.

Can Anyone Design and Run A LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Workshop?

The short answer is NO.

Sessions should be both designed and delivered by someone with both education and expertise in the method as well with speaking/facilitation experience coupled with extensive team dynamics/business consulting experience. The success of a session is completely dependent on how it is designed and how it is delivered. Focus on results, not the method! Saying we want to use LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY is akin to saying 'We want to use PowerPoint' - it is a tool. Used correctly, and in conjunction with an expertly designed workshop based on goals and objectives, it can deliver a return on investment and increase profitability.

As there are a multitude of ways to design and deliver a session using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials, careful design and timing is key to sustain the level of enthusiasm, focus, and engagement required for a session that will deliver on expectations. Feel free to check out the videos above, which are just a few of our many testimonials from our clients - they are real-life examples of the quality of our work!

Rob Oddi, who both designs and runs all sessions is an expert in change and has been consulting for over 20 years with leaders and their teams to accelerate results, improve strategy, and create the powerful level of engagement needed to increase the probability of change success. He is also a professional speaker who creates powerful engagement using humour, energy, and commitment. Rob brings extensive experience and success in developing strong cohesive teams, combined with international experience as a change management consultant, speaker, and comes with the most extensive education in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials.
